Questions Worth Answering Before You Buy

Most full-height power cage and cable crossover units require a minimum of 84 to 96 inches of clearance — roughly seven to eight feet. Measure from finished floor to the lowest obstruction, including ductwork and joists. If your basement runs shorter, an all-in-one compact unit with a lower cable column is the better fit.

Concrete slab is the most stable base and requires no additional reinforcement for standard residential weight stacks. If your floor is wood subfloor over joists, place a 3/4-inch plywood platform under the unit to distribute load across multiple joists. A rubber stall mat on top protects both the floor and the frame feet.

Most all-in-one and cable units ship in multiple boxes and require at least two people during frame assembly — uprights and weight stacks are heavy and need to be held plumb while hardware is secured. Instructions are included. Budget two to four hours depending on the unit's complexity.

Den District offers free shipping on most orders within the Continental U.S. — Alaska and Hawaii are excluded. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery. For full refund eligibility and condition requirements, refer to our Return Policy page before initiating a return on large equipment.

About Our Home Gyms

A home gym is a dedicated training space built around equipment that stays in place, holds its load rating, and performs the same way every session. Unlike commercial facilities, the value is in the room itself — the removal of commute, wait time, and schedule dependency. The right setup depends first on the space: ceiling height and floor load capacity determine which cable configurations are viable before any other decision is made. Buyers should then consider the weight-stack range they actually need versus the range they might want two years from now, since under-speccing a cable machine means replacing it. All-in-one units work well in tighter footprints and serve most functional movement patterns. Power cage and cable crossover combinations serve heavier compound lifts and require more square footage but deliver a broader training range. Either way, the room becomes more useful the day the equipment is anchored in place — and less useful every month that space sits unfinished.
